Having Hope

Primary tabs

My husband and I are highschool sweethearts.  We met when I was only 15 years old.  We got engaged in 2007 and married in 2009.  We immediately began trying to get pregnant.  After a year with no luck, we were both tested and found out my husband had low sperm motility and that we would have a hard time getting pregnant on our own.  We were refered to a fertility clinic and from there more tests were done and then finally our first IUI.  We did 3 IUI's and got pregnant.  Unfortunately we did not know we were pregnant and I went in for my 4th IUI and it was quite painful.  I knew something was wrong.  I took a pregnancy test and low and behold it was positive.  I called the dr. right away and was told to come in immediately that I may have an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy.  We did ultrasound after ultrasound and could not find the pregnancy anywhere.  The doctor advised that it was not a vioable pregnancy and it would be best to terminate it.  We made the tough decision to terminate the pregnancy and 2 days later I had horrible cramping and was rushed to the ER.  They still could not find the pregnancy and I was forced to go into emergency exploratory surgery to find it and remove it.  That was in 2013.  I lost 2/3 of my right tube now making it even more difficult for my husband and I to conceive naturally.  Our next step was IVF.  Our insurance covered 4 rounds of fresh IVF cycles, after that, it would all be out of pocket.  We agreed to try the 4 attempts and if it did not work, we would look into adoption.  We got pregnant on our 3rd IVF cycle but miscarried around 9 weeks.  Our 4th and final attempt, we were pregnant with twins!!  We did however lose 1 twin around 9 weeks but that remaining turned into our beautiful baby girl whom we delivered on 2/9/14.  Since we had a successful 4th round delivery, our insurance company advised we could have 2 more IVF cycles at no cost.  We decided that this August, we would go back and try again.  Little did we know, I was already pregnant with baby #2!  We conceived naturally after they told us we had a 1% chance of doing so!!  Our first born will not even be 2 with her sibling is born in November.  We were shocked and I'm now 4 months pregnant!!  I know my story is a long one, but everything we did was well worth it. My husband and I told each other even if we didnt get pregnancy with a baby of our own, we would be parents one day no matter what.  We would adopt and love that child unconditionally.  It was hard, it was emotional and it was draining but it was worth it!  Never give up hope!  I have created a Facebook page for anyone to share their stories and give or ask advice.  Please check it out.  Stay positive and keep looking up!  God works in mysterious ways!  We're living proof of that!  https://www.facebook.com/hopeivf?ref=aymt_homepage_panel
